A Prescription for guaranteed Happiness! Part Two

“They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.” Psalm 1:3

Have you ever gotten a prescription of Happiness through reliance on God’s word? The Psalmist promises that those who walk in His ways will be blessed with Happiness. This is because a life centered around God is one of order, peace, and joy. This type of prescription in the word of God promises guaranteed Happiness that is not found in the fleeting things of this world because to be like a tree planted by the rivers of water is to have a deep and abiding faith.

Remember, a tree planted by the rivers of water will be continually watered and will grow to be tall and strong. So it is with those who live a God-centered life. They are constantly nurtured and strengthened by the Word of God and the Holy Spirit. As they grow in their faith, they bear fruit that blesses others and glorifies God. Like a tree, a Godly person is firmly rooted in the truth of Scripture. They understand that God’s Word is unchanging and eternal and find their strength and comfort in it.

Romans 12:2 says, “Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

Those whose roots go down deep into the richest soil of God’s word also have a deep understanding of who God is – a loving Father who is always there for them. This gives them a sense of security and peace that can never be shaken. A tree planted by the rivers of water is also protected from the harsh effects of the weather. So it is with those who live a God-centered life. They are shielded from the storms of life by the love and protection of God. No matter what comes their way, they can be assured that they will not be overcome.

Finally, a tree planted by the rivers of water constantly grows and changes. So it is with those who live a God-centered life. They are continually being transformed into the image of Christ, and they are becoming more and more like Him every day. This growth brings them Happiness and satisfaction that can be found nowhere else. Amen. Psalm 92:12 says, “The righteous will flourish like a palm tree and grow like a cedar in Lebanon.” Amen.

1. I praise and appreciate you, LORD, for the wisdom, opportunity, prosperity, peace, joy, strength, and sound health hidden in your word. I thank you for the steadfast spirit of your word, which has been my constant companion.
2. Oh Lord, let your sufficient grace for uncommon advancement and elevation rest upon me in the name of Jesus. Amen.
