At Work, not Idleness!

At Work, not Idleness!

“Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian. And he led the flock to the back of the desert, and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.” Exodus 3:1

I have observed different places in the bible where God had encountered people, and I see that He called most of them while they are at work. I think this is because God has given us a job to do, and it’s our duty as human beings to do so to fulfill our purpose in life.

The scripture above tells us of how God appeared unto Moses while he keeps the flock of Jethro, his father-in-law, the priest of Midian. He was at work, busy tending the flock before the angel of the LORD appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed (Exodus 3:2). God finds Moses while working.

Ecclesiastes 11:6 says, “In the morning sow your seed, and in the evening do not withhold your hand; For you do not know which will prosper, either this or that, or whether both alike wills be good.”

God will not give diligent work to a lazy person. And anytime God is calling us to work, know that He’s calling you to bless you. In other words, He blesses the people He finds at work. God doesn’t use and dumps people. There’s always a divine work He wants to do in your life, but He will never call you if you are lazy or not ready to work.

Laziness or idleness is not harmonious with Godliness. If you sincerely seek and desire to receive counsel and guidance from God, you have to be diligent, even in your services to Him. This is God’s prerequisite and primary condition for a divine, special and unique visitation. Until you can learn to always be at work, you might still be missing His divine visitations. (I would recommend that you join an active unit in your church). Proverbs 14:23 says, “In all toil there is profit, but mere talk tends only to poverty.”

Prayer:
1. Lord, I declare my desire to serve you with all my heart; help me not to be tired.
2. Psalm 128:2: “You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands; you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you.”
