Built on the Rock!

Built on the Rock!

“Therefore, whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock.” Matthew 7:24

Building a robust faith is activity-dependent. From believing the Word of God to meditating and reflecting over it, if you fail to put the Word of God into practice, the Word might not have a full impact. Memorizing Bible verse after verse does not make you a better believer, but if you become the doers of it, then you will become a better version of whom God created to have dominion and authority over all things.

Your capacity becomes enlarged as you act on the Word of God. Do not be deceived by your ability to read and memories God’s Word; it has to become an integral part of you. All that you have learned will flow out the moment you begin another study or reading session. Without implementation, one might be underutilizing the transforming capacity of the Word. The more you practice the Word, the more confident you will become in your Christian faith and your life.

Your blessing from the Word of God does not come from just reading, it comes from obeying and acting it. You must not fear to apply God’s Word because it’s a two-edged sword and always pierces, the truth will set you free, but it must first come through consistent obedience. It is only by doing so that you can truly live the life God has called you to live. James 1:22 says, “Be doers of the Word, and not hearers only. Otherwise, you are deceiving yourselves.”

Do something meaningful with the Word of God you learn. Act on it. Do it. Intentionally decide to live the life it proposes to you. God’s Word exposes our motives, points our faults, rebukes our sin, and expect us to change. Its human nature to resist change, so applying God’s Word is hard work. If indeed, you desire the life of Christ, you may need to write down your decisions somewhere or discuss it with someone to follow you upon your decisions. This is the way God helps His people. In Luke 11:28, Jesus said, “Blessed are those who hear the word of God and obey it.”

Prayer:
1. Thank you, Jesus, my rock of ages and peace.
2. Lord, help me to apply your Word and let me never be the same forever in Jesus’ name.
