Covetousness is Sinful!

Covetousness is Sinful!

“You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife or his male or female servant or his ox or his donkey or anything that belongs to your neighbor.” Exodus 20:17

They are lovely, everything God created, and all of His works have their uniqueness, be it animal, plants, nature, or human. Humans in a distinctive personality have always strived and lived to be the best in every circle. Some become rich, some are beautiful, intelligent, tall, and some are even poor. Each one has his or her unique identity, but they have discovered that lack of contentment increases the human race for vanity.

Have you ever desired to look like someone else? Do you feel contented with the whole of your life? When you see how others live their lives, have you ever wished you were them and desired their lives? God hates it when you covet other’s property, or their life means you are ungrateful for how God has made you and blessed you.

Israel was accursed because Achan coveted a goodly garment, two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold that weighs fifty shekels among the spoils of Jericho (Joshua 7:21). God has good intentions for everyone; besides, nobody has a perfect life, and you can never live the other’s life. So, we must understand what God has called us for and work diligently to achieve them.

However, being successful in our calling is the way to overcome such a sinful desire because God detests against such that He included it in His commandment. Take a moment to appreciate God’s gift for your life each day and celebrate the good things you desire in others rather than coveting them the wrong way. Jesus said, “Watch out and be on guard against all greed because one’s life is not in the abundance of his possessions.” Luke 12:15.

Prayer:
Lord, I praise you for all you’ve done and for all you didn’t do for me. I will forever be grateful. For as much as I desire Lord, bless me according to your will in Jesus’ name
