Do not be Anxious!

Do not be Anxious!

“A joyful heart makes a cheerful countenance, but sorrow of the heart crushes the spirit.” Proverbs 15:13

Anxiety means an unpleasant state of mental uneasiness, nervousness, apprehension, obsession, or concern about some uncertain event. Being anxious brings fear or dread about future occurrences and weighs down on our ability to live life with joy. Everyone has feelings of anxiety at some point in life but taking it to the extreme can cause us to lose sight of what we want. For example, it may be when you encounter a problem at work, before taking a task or deciding on important issues.

I understand that it is not always easy to deal with these feelings, and sometimes they are very difficult to overcome. However, if we take the time to think about it, we will realize that being anxious does not produce positive results. This is because when we worry more, the less confident we become in our abilities to handle situations. That’s why the bible says anxiety can rob you of happiness unless you find a good word to cheer you up (Proverbs 12:25).

Philippians 4:6 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”

Brethren, there is a solution to all problems because we have the benefits of peace in Christ Jesus. Therefore, 1 Peter 5:7 encourages you to ‘cast all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you’ either your pains, grief, shame, sin, etc. God’s grace is sufficient to wipe every anxiety in our lives when we take it to Him in prayers. Therefore, don’t entertain worries, unease, fear, dread, doubt, and fright because you forfeit the peace that Jesus bought with His blood.

We all indeed have issues that trouble us or want to make us anxious, but we were assured of victory from every scriptural reference today. You can only find peace in Christ. He has given you the ability to stand firm by virtue of His blood; you cannot be shaken. So don’t burden your life with your daily encounters with life so that you wouldn’t be overwhelmed and drawn out of God’s presence. Instead, always take everything to God in prayers and let every issue drive you to the altar of prayer and make your request known to God instead of entertaining anxiety in your mind. Psalm 56:3 says, “When I am afraid, I put my trust in God.”

Prayer
1. Heavenly Father, bestow on me the grace to see you and rejoice in every situation.
2. Colossians 3:15; Oh Lord, let the peace of Christ rule in my heart forever in Jesus’ name. Amen.
