Don’t be Lazy!

“How long will thou sleep, o sluggard? When will thou arise out of thy sleep?” Proverbs 6:9

Laziness is the shortest route to poverty and one of the major killers of dreams and visions. It is an enemy we must fight against. It is the Spirit that sees the reasons or gives excuses for why something cannot be done. Laziness makes you listen to those voices that usually make you procrastinate and become complacent with the situation you find yourself. It is harmful to business and should never be permitted in a work environment. Laziness makes you pull back emotionally from things that are important to you.

A lazy man desires good things but without willing to work towards it. He knows nothing, interferes with nothing, enjoys good things without willing to work for it, does things that require little effort, and remains alive only because there is nothing of worth to die for; he always believes what will happen, will happen. Laziness makes you indifferent towards something important and makes the victim believe that he has an entitlement to all the blessings of this world while he contributes nothing. Laziness, at times, does not mean you are not doing something but that you may not sincerely do what you ought to do or fail to do what is to be done when it needs to be done.

Ecclesiastes 10:18 says, “Through laziness the roof caves in, and in the hands of the idle, the house leaks.”

You become lazy when you begin to sleep away valuable hours, resting when you are yet to get tired, procrastinating, and giving excuses. Laziness comes with numerous dangers. A lazy person may never experience the best from God, may find it difficult to finish any good thing started. He has less or no impact on people’s lives, becomes useless and unteachable. He has lots of wishful thinking but no achievement. It is possible to experience spiritual laziness. In most cases, spirituality usually gives rise to physical laziness. Spiritual laziness is when you fail to nourish yourself and with the word of God and also lack quality quiet time.

Spiritual laziness can also affect the growth of your business, especially when your business is under a spiritual attack. You need to evaluate your level of diligence and commitment to your work or business. When you realize that you are lazy, work it out with God, and make a conscious effort to stop being lazy. One of the consequences of laziness is complaining that God is not blessing you. Examine yourself honestly, and with God on your side, you will achieve good success in your business and walk with God. All you need is discipline and determination. Ask God for help to counter laziness, starve it, and do your work no matter how you feel. Above all, give your life to Jesus Christ, and you will enjoy His presence in your life. Proverbs 12:24 says, “The hand of the diligent will rule, but laziness ends in forced labor.”

Prayer:
Father Lord, give me the strength to overcome the Spirit of laziness in my life and business in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
