Earnest Prayer!

Earnest Prayer!

“And being in agony, he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling to the ground.” Luke 22:44

There are mere prayers, and there are earnest prayers. Mere prayers are just words that don’t touch our spirit, and we sincerely know when we are not serious with such prayer. There are lots of pretends, triviality, and a total waste of time in Christian gatherings sometimes. Some people observe prayer as just routing or some ritual requirements, but prayers are not just to be that.

Prayers are more of a spiritual exercise than physical presentations. Prayers are meant for our spiritual and kingdom “transactions,” not just a call-to-action that we respond to anyhow. Our earnest and fervent prayers are very important for everyone in the kingdom of God, and we see evidence and examples of people who prayed in the Bible.

One of the prominent persons is Jesus. Jesus was a divine being on earth whose birth was orchestrated through the Holy Spirit. With some divine characteristics of Jesus, we might expect Him not to pray as much as He did. So far, He was divinely sent and should have done all those healing easily without much investment in prayers. But that isn’t true; He paid the price. Why can’t you?

If Jesus could pray earnestly that the Bible recorded that His sweat was like drops of blood, this suggests that we followers of Christ need to pray earnestly as well. Undoubtedly, prayer is one of the greatest keys that opened His success. Mark 1:35 says, “Early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up and slipped out to a solitary place to pray.”

Prayer:
1. Mighty God, strengthen my life to worship you, I don’t want to get tired of praising you.
2. Holy Spirit, help me to pray as much as you would want me to.
