Experiencing the Goodness of Our Lord!

Experiencing the Goodness of Our Lord

“How sweet are Your words to my taste–sweeter than honey in my mouth!” Psalm 119:103

God wants us to taste and see how sweet He is so that we may know just how much He loves us. The goodness of our Lord transcends traditional notions of happiness, as His goodness brings a sense of peace and contentment that far surpasses what this world has to offer. To truly experience the goodness of our Lord requires us to take time each day to refocus our attention back onto Him and bask in His presence. That’s why Psalm 34:8 declares, “Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.” By taking refuge in our Lord, we can receive the blessing of experiencing His goodness.

Remember, hearsay knowledge cannot be compared to eyewitness testimonies. Hearsay opens the door to doubt, misperception, faulty memory, ambiguity, and insincerity. In contrast, eyewitnesses shed light and true light only through observation. It is the best way to know what’s going on and avoid schema traps. It is also the best way to understand God’s love and mercy. There is emotional testimony of a life-altering experience. Those who participated in a lifestyle of selfish indulgence involving drugs, alcohol, and wild living, yet God redeemed and restored them, understand the power of God’s grace.

Job 42:5 says, “My ears had heard of you, but now my eyes have seen you.”

Those who struggle with their faith have found strength in God to walk through their struggles to overcome the importance of God’s power. Job, an upright and God-fearing man, also had a life-altering experience with God. Out of his experience with suffering, loss, and questioning God, Job repented his distrust of God and acknowledged God’s greatness, power, and wisdom. When Job ran out of questions, he was ready to listen humbly to God. After all, he went through and had a personal revelation of who God is, which left a tangible mark on Job’s life.

It is an amazing difference between experiencing God rather than only knowing about Him. Experiencing God brings us to a lifelong process of learning from Him, becoming so intimately acquainted with Him that we joyfully yield our lives to Him because we have come to know Him and trust Him completely. May each of us be grateful for the constant presence of God and be ready to experience Him in life-changing ways. Hebrews 11:6 says, “And without faith, it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.”

Prayer:
1. Father, help me to repent of any selfish pride and to seek Your presence daily humbly.
2. I trust in you, Oh Lord. Amen.
