Knowing your Purpose!

Knowing your Purpose!

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11

The purpose is crucial because it gives a sense of drive and direction. There’s a conventional way we have always been talking about this. I’ve read many books and seen people talk about purpose. They were all educative and powerful. I saw a book some time ago; it was about how to discover purpose. I eagerly needed some directions in life at that period, so the book was so captivating to me.

With the book of purpose in my hand, I thought that I would undoubtedly find a page where my purpose would be clearly stated. I read through the book, searching for where it would be written, but I couldn’t find it. All I got was, be disciplined, be visionary, be diligent, get values, etc. And then, at some point, I saw: discover yourself. Hoooo… I felt like, what have I been doing?

Jeremiah 1:5 says, “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, and before you were born, I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

The fact is that I lost the purpose of that book; I have a misconception of what the book was to do for me. Books are like help or guide to us. No book can ever tell anyone his/her purpose in life. God can clearly state our purpose; nobody, theory or books, can tell anyone his/her exact purpose in life (Eph 1:11).

Therefore, it is important to ask God about this. Remember that He created you, and only the creator can fully understand the purpose of the creature. Never neglect the voice of God in discovering your purpose. As much as you would read other books, read His word, which is where your purpose can be known and have full expression. Proverbs 19:21 says, “Many plans are in a mankind’s heart, but the purpose of the LORD will prevail.”

Prayer:
1. Revelation 4:11 “Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will, they existed and were created.”
2. Lord, show me why you’ve created me; I submit myself to your will.
