Knowing Your Purpose.

Knowing Your Purpose.

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” Jeremiah 29:11

We are all born with a profound purpose in life. However, the question is where and how can we find that purpose? In today’s devotion, I will share my experience of finding your purpose.

There is a conventional way we have always been talking about this. I’ve read many books and seen people talk about purpose. They were all educated and influential. They talked about what it means to live a purpose-driven life, but did not mention where I can find it.

I saw a book some time ago; it was about how to discover “Your Purpose.” At that period, I eagerly needed some directions in life, so the book was so captivating to me. I thought to myself that I would undoubtedly find a page where my purpose would be clearly stated. I read through the book, searching for where it would be written, but I could not find it.
All I got was, be disciplined, be visionary, be diligent, obtain values, etc. So at some point, I saw: discover yourself. Oh! Oh! … I felt like, what have I been doing?

The fact is that I lost the purpose of that book; I have a misconception of what the book was all about. Books are like help or guide us in some specific area. No manual can ever tell a man His purpose in life but can help you to sharpen your knowledge.

Our purpose can only be clearly stated by God, no man, theory, or books can tell a man his exact purpose in life. Ephesians 1:11-12 says, “In Him we were also chosen as God’s own, having been predestined according to the plan of Him who works out everything by the counsel of His will, in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, would be for the praise of His glory.”

It is, therefore, essential to ask God about this. Remember that He created you, and only the creator can fully understand the purpose of the creature. Never neglect the voice of God in discovering your purpose. As much as you would read other books, read His word, which is where your purpose can be known and have full expression. “The counsel of the LORD stands forever, the purposes of His heart to all generations.” Psalm 33:11

Prayer:

  1. Thank you, Lord, for the guidance and direction of my life.
  2. Lord, show me why you’ve created me. I submit myself to your will.
  3. Every plan of the enemy contrary to the plan of God in my life shall be destroyed in Jesus name
