Let Go of Baggage!

Let go of Baggage!

“These people left us, but they never really belonged with us; otherwise, they would have stayed with us. When they left, it proved that they did not belong with us.” 1 John 2:19

When Paul said, “If it is possible on your part, live at peace with everyone.” Romans 12:18, he was not saying we should be close with just anybody. We come across so many people every day that it is easy to make friends with many of them. We meet people, and we like them easily, and there are people our instincts tell us not to be friends with them.

It is often not our instinct; it is the spirit of God ministering to us that we should avoid such people. However, there are relationships that God will deliberately tell us to run away from because that relationship might cost us something bigger in the future. Just like a square peg will not fit into a round hole, and just as water and oil do not mix, some people will never fit into your life.

Proverbs 22:24-25 says, “Make no friendship with a person given to anger, nor go with a hot-tempered person, lest you learn his/her ways and entangle yourself in a snare.”

Some people do not fit into your future and what God has in plan for you. It will not be easy cutting off from such people, but you have to let them go because they cannot be part of the equation of your life. God knows the answer to every question of your life, and He knows who, when, where, and how it will be answered. Therefore, listen to God’s instructions, follow Him closely, and let Him choose for you.

Your relationship determines your network and connections. God has designed how your future will be, He knows what and who will fit in, and He does not want a delay for you. So you should just let go of the baggage that will make the journey stressful and tiring. There is no relationship between light and darkness, so when God says a person is not good for you, obey. 2 Corinthians 6:14 “Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?”

Prayer:
1. Lord, help me to obey your leading and let go of what needs to go.
2. Oh Lord, I believed and trust in you that you will protect me from all kinds of evil in Jesus’ name.
