More than a Mere Greeting!

More than a Mere Greeting!

“Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and Jesus our Lord.” 2 Peter 1:2

The common New Testament greeting holds a profound mystery which this devotion will unveil for your understanding. If you agree with me that God’s grace, which brings peace of mind, frees us from our inabilities, that would never make us righteous before God.

A child of God should know that it is not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, and it is not of ourselves, it is the gift of God (Grace). Therefore, if you have recognized your sins before God, you need to rejoice that God has extended his grace through Jesus Christ, for sins which atonement could never have been made through law-keeping and meritorious deeds. Romance 5:2 says, through Jesus, we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.

In the days of the heroes of faith, when this grace has not been made available, their righteousness was just like a filthy rag in God’s presence (Isaiah 64:6). They were eagerly and patiently waiting for this dispensation of grace, but they could not be a partaker of it (Heb 11:13) through the knowledge of God, and Jesus our Lord.

Apostle Paul made it clear above on how you can walk in this dimension of grace, which is through the knowledge of accepting who God is, through the knowledge of Jesus as the revelation of God on earth. Life in Christ is the way to live life, and we are called to do so by faith. John 1:17 says, “For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.”

Prayer:
May the good Lord, whom we have accepted and believe in, unleash unto us more profound knowledge of him, in Christ’s name. Amen!
