Open Doors! 4

“Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding” Proverbs 3:13

The third key to open doors that we shall examine today is discernment. Discernment means the ability to distinguish between things. For example, revelation 3:8 says, “I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name.” From this scriptural reference, God has opened a door for the church in Philadelphia. But it takes discernment to discern what is open and closed spiritually.

When we embrace the spirit of discernment that comes with being spiritually minded, we open our minds to new possibilities. We become more aware of the opportunities available to us, and we grow more confident in our ability to take advantage of them. 1 Corinthians 2:16 “For who has understood the mind of the Lord to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.” Conversely, those who lack discernment understand that growth is uncertain.

Hebrews 5:14 says, “But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.”

Jesus wasn’t referring to a physical building. The door He opened to them wasn’t a visible one but a spiritual door. God has often opened doors for us, but we cannot see them due to a lack of discernment even though they are right ahead of us. It takes discernment to be observant when a door has been opened unto us. Do you know that we may pray and fast for an open door in our business meanwhile, God has already opened the door? An individual without discernment would not be able to identify which doors the Lord has opened.

As praising and praying to God cannot be left out, so also is discernment, which helps us to know when our prayers and praises have brought us victory. When you do not discern well enough, you may miss the divine opportunity right before you. I pray that you will not miss out on opportunities because of your lack of discernment in Jesus’ name. Amen. For King Solomon to become great and experience an open door in his kingdom, he asked for discernment spirit and guidance (1 Kings 3:9). So, brethren, why can’t you ask God for discernment? Proverbs 18:15 says, “An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.”

• Heavenly Father, open my understanding to the doors you have set before me in Jesus’ name.
• Holy Spirit helps me to be sensitive to your leading in Jesus’ name.
