Parable of the Sower!

The Parable of the Sower!

“A farmer went out to plant his seed. As he scattered it across his field, some seed fell on a footpath, where it was stepped on, and the birds ate it.” Luke 8:5

In Luke 8:4-8, Jesus uses a parable to communicate a powerful message to his listeners. The parable of the Sower tells the story of a farmer who plants seeds in different parts of his field. Some seeds grow and produce fruit, while others do not. The parable’s point is that everyone has a role to play in life and whether they succeed or fail depends on their actions. For example, the seed on the wayside! The wayside seed means avoiding carelessness with God’s word and dreams in your heart.

The seed is the word of God that is supposed to bring greatness to your lives and make you better. However, a careless attitude will allow the enemy to take over the seed and destroy it. When you are careless about what you do or carry, it can be perilous and easy for someone to take advantage of it. The seed you don’t guard will be effortlessly eaten by a goat (enemy); the seed you don’t protect will be easily infected by disease (the sin of the world) and destroyed, and the seed you don’t care for will become useless.

In Luke 8:12, Jesus explained further, saying, “The seed by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.”

If you want to win the war against Satan, then keep your eye on your seed because the devil knows that the seed in you is your greatness. Therefore, don’t allow your seed to drop at the wayside because you get caught up in worldly desires; instead, give time for God’s Word and avoid inattention. Don’t be “ever learning, and never coming to a knowledge of the truth” when you don’t have time to listen to his voice or hear his word.1 John 3:9 says, “Anyone born of God refuses to practice sin because God’s seed abides in him; he cannot go on sinning because he has been born of God.”

The word of God brings life. John said, “In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the Word was God. He was at the beginning with God. All things were made through Him; without Him, nothing was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.” John 1:1-5. Brethren, listen to God’s words with care because it gives life. Amen. Proverbs 2:6 says, “For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.” Amen

Prayer:
1. Thank you for guarding the seed of life in me.
2. Lord, I pray against every Spirit of carelessness that wastes away great things and souls in Jesus’ name.
