Stop and Smell the Roses! 2

“It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, anxiously working for food to eat, for God gives rest to his loved ones.” Psalm 127:2

Life is beautiful and fleeting. And that’s a good thing. Time goes by fast, so don’t waste it on anything that doesn’t make you happy. Instead, try to show yourself some love by appreciating what you have and spreading the same passion to someone you care about. Whether you love it or hate it, there’s no denying that taking time off from the busy world is a big deal. I’m sure you’ve heard of the saying from Isaiah 30:15 when he says, “For thus said the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, “In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and trust shall be your strength.” But you were unwilling.”

There’s something incredibly soothing about taking the time to smell a rose. It’s a simple pleasure that can help you relax and de-stress. Plus, it’s a great way to reconnect with nature and get some fresh air. So if you’re feeling stressed out, take a break and stop to smell the roses. You’ll be glad you did! There’s no denying that work can be stressful. It’s easy to get wrapped up in deadlines, demands from managers, and the ever-growing to-do list. And when work-related stress starts to take its toll, it can be difficult to focus on anything else. That’s where taking a break from work comes in.

Genesis 2:3 says, “Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it because on that day He rested from all the work of creation that He had accomplished.”

“Stop and smell the roses.” And while it’s easy to forget to do that in the hustle and bustle of life, it’s something worth taking the time to do. Because when you stop to smell the roses, you’re able to appreciate all the good things life has to offer. Think about it. When’s the last time you stopped what you were doing and just took a few minutes to smell the roses? If you can’t remember, then it’s time to make a change. Because when you take the time to smell the roses, you’re able to appreciate the beauty of life. You’re able to appreciate the moment.

God has demonstrated that the day of rest is a day of blessing; He took a day off to relax and commanded us to do the same thing (Exodus 20:10-11). Therefore, taking a day off is a good way to reevaluate what you’ve been doing and refresh yourself for the next opportunity. It’s a day to spend time with friends and family, to do things you enjoy, and to relax. So, the next time you’re feeling overwhelmed or stressed out, take a few minutes to stop and smell the roses. And, who knows, you may find healing and peace for your broken heart that you never knew existed through rest. Mark 2:27 says, “Then Jesus said to them, “The Sabbath was made to meet the needs of people, and not people to meet the requirements of the Sabbath.”

Prayer:
1. Oh Lord, let your presence goes with me wherever I go, and let me find rest in you.
2. Psalm 116:7 “Return, O my soul, to your rest; for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you” in Jesus’ name. Amen.
