The Fear of the Lord!

The Fear of the Lord!

“In fear of the Lord, there is strong confidence, And his children will have refuge.” Proverbs 14:26

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and to fear the Lord is to flee from all forms of sin. This is one of the major concerns of Jehoshaphat with the judges, elders, Levites, and priests he appointed after they returned to Jerusalem. He organized executives and representatives to connect his people with his governance.

Jehoshaphat’s governance strategically selected people who are expected to pass judgments accordingly and with the fear of the Lord. This should be a normal and flawless way our communities should be, a life being lived in fear of the Lord. I am not saying that you should be possessed with fear, but rather to have a reference to God’s presence in your life.

Proverbs 16:6 says, “By loving devotion and faithfulness, iniquity is atoned for, and by the fear of the LORD one turns aside from evil.”

It is hard to see the reflection of God’s presence in the lives of people today. Our behavior and responses to social activities should stand as proof of the existence of God’s Spirit in us. Alas, corruption is the major trait we see in every corner, which doesn’t show our respect for God. Why should we fear God? … For He is matchless and the most powerful God. Our fear should be a sign of respect and honor unto God.

We are to fear not what the world says, our friends, or our job demands, but what commands. When God stands with us, nothing else matters. He would lift us above all situations. With our respect for God, He would hear us loudly when we call Him silently. When we fear Him, we flee from what He detests, and then we follow His will. Let His will be your will. Proverbs 8:13 says, “The fear of the LORD is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way And the perverse mouth I hate.”

Prayer:
1. Lord, help me to follow you to the end. Put your fear in me that I may not sin.
2. Psalm 34:14; Oh Lord, help me to turn away from evil act and do good; and to seek peace and pursue it in Jesus’ name.
