The Foolishness of Preaching!

The Foolishness of Preaching!

“For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.” 1 Corinthians 1:21

Foolishness here refers to the message of the gospel according to the thinking of human beings. Christian is seen as a group of people without logical reasoning. It is not that we are a bunch of fools, as they say. But we are convinced that our strength, our messages, and inspiration are from Him because he created us by the word of His power.

According to God’s pre-destinated plan for us, He prepared his son as a ransom for us and sent him to die on the cross. Through Christ’s death, messages were formulated and transmitted to save through the Holy Spirit to all who believed in Jesus Christ. The message of the cross seems stupid, but it throbs with truth, conviction and power; acts as a catalyst for change that brings transformation to life; it produces results in the way of salvation and redemption for those who believe. That is why Christ must be preached if we want to see the efficacy of the message of the cross.

We are not just talking about human philosophy and positive thinking that has been proclaimed without power, but with a mere result for transformation. We are talking about the gospel of Jesus Christ, which is an expression of God’s power and wisdom. God sees wise men and women, but He knows that their modernism and modernity have led many astray. This is because their wisdom is so far away from the truth of God’s word, which they don’t even know what it means.

1 Corinthians 1:18 says, “the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”

The wisdom of God is a mystery in which no human can decipher; even the deceiver of this world (devil) was not able to. There is the assurance that, if the devil had known that the plan of God to save humankind was through the cross, he would have prevented the crucifixion. Hence, let us make ourselves ready to preach the wisdom of God, far and beyond, and may his spirit guide us through. It should be our duty to preach the foolishness of the gospel. After that, the Holy Spirit will do the work of conviction. Ephesians 1:9 says, “God has made known to us the mystery of His will according to His good pleasure, which He purposed in Christ.”

Prayer;
1. Ephesians 1:8: Thank you, Jesus, for all wisdom and understanding you lavished on us.
2. I receive the grace to be ready to preach the gospel in and out of season in Jesus’ name. Amen.
