The Mind of Holiness!

The Mind of Holiness!

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what is good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:2

One of God’s primary attributes is holiness, and Jesus Christ also exhibited this character throughout His ministry. The bible recorded that the devil came and could not find anything in Him to hold against Him. The devil tempted Jesus Christ three times and suggested so many things to Him, but He didn’t consent to it. And throughout His life on earth, He was without any faults.

As Christians, we also need to have this mind of holiness as found in Christ Jesus. Holiness means to be set apart or consecrated to God. Holiness unto God is non-debatable; it is a command; “You shall be holy, for I am holy” (1 Peter 1:16). When we are working towards holiness, we cannot continue as an unbeliever that requote the scripture says all have sinned and come short of God’s glory (Romans 3:23). The only way to be holy is through the salvation offered by Jesus Christ (Romans 10:9, Ephesians 2:8-9).

Romans 13:14 says, “Instead, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the desires of the flesh.”

When we believe and confess Jesus Christ as our savior, He cleanses us from sin and makes us holy (1John1:7). As believers, been made holy, we are also called to live holy lives, because God who called you his holy, you also be holy in all your conduct. Through inspiration, faith, action, thought, willpower, and love, we must become holy. We must be holy in every aspect of life, including our work and relationships with others.

As obedient children of God, we should not be conformed to the passion of our lustful desires; we are to avoid our former ways of life before becoming a Christian and live according to God’s ways. We can only do this by living by the power of God’s Spirit and following the principles found in God’s word. Our mind will continue to create the masterpieces of holiness that reflect God’s image through God’s word. Ephesians 4:24 says, “… to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”

Prayer:

  1. Father Lord, I pray, sanctify my heart, and give me the grace to live a holy life.
  2. Oh Lord, cleanse me from all iniquities and let me walk in the path of righteousness in Jesus’
