Tripartite Nature of the World! 3

Tripartite Nature of the World! 3

“Do not boast so proudly, or let arrogance come from your mouth, for the LORD is a God who knows, and by Him, actions are weighed.” 1 Samuel 2:3

The third part of the tripartite nature of the world is the “Pride of Life.” The pride of life means arrogant assumption, a vainglorious show of possessions. Many people crave and pursue wealth, beauty, fashion, and money for the sole aim of showing off to neighbors, colleagues, and contemporaries. They want to be seen as being better than others, but they don’t realize that success does not mean anything if it doesn’t reflect humility in their character.

There is a salient pride desired and gathered from the pursuit and possession of things that present you as a worldly person, but if you can get rid of that and devote all your desire and possession unto God’s glory, you please Him rather than being worldly. Crave the essential things to your life and purpose and not for a show of fame. Jesus was tempted with this “selfish desire” by Satan when He was set on the temple pinnacle so that he could display spiritual pride and presumption on the loving and caring attribute of God by casting Himself down (Mathew 4:5-6).

Proverbs 16:18 says, “Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall.”

Let’s not forget that Satan fell and lost his glory because of pride. Similar to the temptation of Jesus was that of Eve in the garden of Eden. She realized and beheld that the tree was good for food, pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise (Genesis 3:6). There are several expressions or manifestations of “the pride of life” in our world today. Examples are; the desire to know above what God has revealed; the pride of unsanctified knowledge, the desire to be praised and be like God; the desire to be seen as rich and wealthy or powerful one; the desire to be seen as a righteous or upright person, etc. These cravings are not of God the Father; it doesn’t originate from God but the world.

Evaluate and examine yourself and pray for deliverance and victory over worldly affections. The Lord is with you always, and he will never leave you. Amen! Proverbs 21:4 says, “Haughty eyes and a proud heart, the lamp of the wicked, are sin.”

Prayers
1. Father, rescue and deliver my heart and mind from pride.
2. Dear Lord, please separate me from every worldly pattern in Jesus’ name. Amen.
