Walking in the Victory of Christ Jesus! Part Two

For whoever is born of God overcomes the world: and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.” 1 John 5:4

The concept of victory is not foreign to the scriptures. Right from the time of Abraham down to the time of Apostle Paul, there has always been a reason to fight or acquire victory. Obviously, the mention of the word victory already connotes a fight; it says there is a struggle. Now, just like nothing accentuates the importance of freedom more than slavery, nothing makes victory as desirous or as sweet as the colossal failure we see around us.

One of the most insightful thoughts on this can be found in the writing of Isaiah. First, he says, ‘Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD has risen upon you.’ Next, he says, ‘See, the darkness covers the earth, and gross darkness the people’ (Isaiah 60:1-2). This is definitely saying your light should shine amid gross darkness. Now, if your light becomes darkness, something must be wrong. Clearly, what Isaiah is teaching is that believers must never be subservient to the things of this earth. The world can or will, but not the believer. However, seeing believers succumb to drugs, immorality, and sicknesses is disheartening.

Romans 6:14 says, “For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.”

Jesus didn’t die to keep you in your sins or still under the control of the evil one. He died to free you from them, and he has successfully done by His resurrection (1 John 3:8). Many that believe Him already have the victory. What now remains is walking in it. Colossians 2:6 says, “As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him: How did we receive Jesus? By faith! We have to believe it! We are believers! So, we act in faith. Likewise, we act on the word. God’s word says it, and that settles it. God says, “Sin or death shall not have dominion over you”; therefore, we have the power to say No to ungodliness and worldly lust,’ so it is. God says we’re more than a conqueror; we have the victory in Christ Jesus,’ so it is.

God says Himself took our infirmities and bore our sickness; he says He will put none of the diseases on the Egyptians on us, for He is the Lord that heals us; he sent His word and healed us and delivered us from destruction. Remember, His word is a lamp unto our feet and light unto our paths. As believers, we simply act on this. And the first place to put God’s word into action is on my lips. We must be bold to say the same. We must continually and boldly say, ‘The Lord is our helper; we must not be afraid of what men do to us.’ The believer’s victory is in His word. Amen. Psalm 108:13 says, “With God, we shall do valiantly; it is he who will tread down our foes.”

Prayer:
Father, I thank you for the victory that is mine in Christ Jesus. Today, I choose to walk much more in the same. I commit to boldly confessing God’s word. Hallelujah. Amen.
