Want to Find Happiness? Spread mercy!

“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” Ephesians 4:32

Mercy is the love that embraces the whole person. It is not limited by race, ethnicity, nationality, or any other category of difference. Mercy extends to all people and desires their well-being. Mercy is also merciful in forgiving others. It recognizes that everyone has been hurt and deserves to be forgiven. Mercy is a virtue that can be exercised in a variety of ways. It can be expressed in acts of mercy, such as helping an individual or group in need. It can also be expressed in the will to forgive others for their sins. Mercy makes the world a better place: Be merciful and see the change!

Luke 6:36 says, “Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father is merciful.” To be merciful is to think out of your box or not to be judgmental of others. Mercy detached from justice and extended the Love of God toward humanity. Therefore, mercy and forgiveness should be free even when the wrongdoer does not deserve it. However, if the wrongdoer has to do something to merit it, it isn’t mercy; that is, ‘gives and takes. Mercy is giving freely without the expectation of reward or punishment.

“For judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment.” James 2:13

Mercy is showing compassion or forgiveness toward someone who does not deserve it. There are people all around us who are hurting spiritually, need help financially or are just emotionally disturbed and need you to speak the word of God to them. They are in bad shape because they are lost. Unless we are intentional, we may not see them, and we will miss the opportunity to make a difference in their lives. Jesus said, “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.” Matthew 5:7.

Unless we see what Jesus sees, we will not feel what Jesus feels. Jesus was moved to compassion when He came across those in need. He showed mercy to those who accepted Him—as well as to those who rejected Him. As believers, we must also be merciful to those in need, regardless of whether they accept or reject Christ. Jesus said, “For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?” Matthew 5:46

Prayer:
1. Thank you. Oh! Lord, for your mercy and grace over my life.
2. Father, open my eyes to see the needs around me and be merciful to those in need.
3. Oh Lord, uproot every manipulative and selfish spirit that has been built up in me in Jesus’ name. Amen.
