What Has Been Seen Cannot Be Unseen! Part Two

“Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you.” Proverbs 4:25

The past is behind us. It can never be changed. We can learn from it and move forward, but it will never be the same. Our future is what’s important. There’s always hope for a better tomorrow as long as we’re alive. Salvation is not in our past. Our past may have contributed to who we are today, but salvation is in our future. We can always change for the better. We can make choices that will lead us down a better path. As long as we’re alive, we have the opportunity to be redeemed and start anew.

The Book of Genesis tells the story of Joseph, who was sold into slavery by his brothers and ended up in Egypt. There, he rose to a position of power and was able to help his family during a time of famine. However, when Joseph had his first son, he named him Manasseh saying, “For God has made me forget all my toil and all my father’s house.” (Genesis 41:51).” The name “Manasseh” comes from the Hebrew word for “forgetfulness.” Joseph chose this name to remind everyone that he has forgiven everyone who offended him, forgotten the hardships of his past, and focused on the future.

Ephesians 4:31-32 says, “Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”

Brethren, when we “forgive and forget,” we let go of the hurt and pain we experienced at someone else’s hands. We may still remember what happened, but we no longer dwell on it or let it define us. Instead, we are moving forward with our lives. The past is a good teacher, but it’s not the only one. We can also learn from our mistakes. Likewise, we can learn from the experiences of others. Not only that, but we can learn from the mistakes of others.

We can learn from the good and the bad. But ultimately, the decisions we make in the future will determine the freedom we enjoy. It’s easy to get bogged down by the past. It’s easy to dwell on the mistakes we’ve made. Likewise, it’s easy to get lost in our regrets and let unforgiveness, bitterness, wrath, anger, and clamor define us. But, if we want to move forward, we must let go of the past. We have to leave it behind and focus on the future because God wants us in the future so that he can use us for his glory. Amen. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” Amen.

Prayer:
1. Thank you, Jesus, for your grace and mercy through your blood. Thank you for lifting the burden of the past and setting me up for God’s glory.
2. Blood of Jesus, wipe away clouds of bitterness, anger, and wrath in my mind; and let the enemies polluting my life with fear turn back in Jesus’ name. Amen.https://maglife.org/
