What Has Been Seen Cannot Be Unseen!

“Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own because Christ Jesus has made me his own.” Philippians 3:12

Have you ever seen a hilarious picture or video that you just can’t unsee? Maybe you’ve seen someone do something embarrassing that you can’t forget. Well, that is what today’s devotional topic is about. This saying is often used about traumatic events or images that are difficult to ignore. Likewise, in our lives, we may remember things that happened in our past, such as the death of a loved one or failure in the past. But sometimes, it can be hard to forget those things because they are so painful, and we have no idea how to deal with them because what has been seen cannot be unseen!

However, according to Philippians 3:12-14, Apostle Paul understands that what has been seen cannot be unseen and what has been experienced cannot be forgotten. However, Paul says he will no longer focus on the past. He’s been through many tough times but chooses to forget them and move on. He’s looking ahead to the future, where God has promised him great things. Likewise, God has a great plan for you. When you’re in this situation, don’t let your past hold you back from

Isaiah 43:18-19 says, “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past, for I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.”

We can’t undo the things that have already happened, but we can choose to forget them and move on. Then, we can focus on the future, where God has promised us great things. The past and future tense in Isaiah 43:18-19 is significant because it demonstrates the prophet’s understanding of God’s character. In the past, God has always been faithful to us, even when we were unfaithful. He has always been our protector and deliverer. Now, do you think God will not be faithful to you? No, not at all. Our God is ready to redeem and restore you if you believe and let go of the past.

So, the next time you see something you wish you could unsee, remember Philippians 3:12-14. It’s okay to laugh about it and then move on! Forget what is behind you and press on to what is ahead. This is because your salvation is not in your past but the future. Therefore, I urge you to live for Christ in the present moment and not for yourself. The present is a wonderful place to live. Amen. Galatians 2:20 “It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Amen.

Prayer:
1. 2 Corinthians 2:14; Lord Jesus, all thanks to you, for always making my victory sure and secure in Christ’s triumphal procession.
2. Lord, grant me the strength to forget the past errors and failures in my life and look forward to what lies ahead to fulfill all your promises in Jesus’ name. Amen.
