What is Your Choice?

What is Your Choice?

“Now there were four leprous men at the entrance of the gate; and they said to one another, “Why are we sitting here until we die?” 2 Kings 7:3

Ultimately, we have a choice in this life: Either we can stand up for what’s right or stay silent. We can choose to make a little more effort to the path of success, or we can sit around and wait for the time when it all comes together by its own accord. There is a choice to be passive when the comfort zone becomes too comfortable, also the choice to be active and take action when the opportunity presents itself.

It is important to know how much time will pass between now and then if we don’t put in every ounce of strength and determination to get where we are supposed to be. I’m not saying that you shouldn’t be happy with your life, so don’t get me wrong. If you want something, you must put effort into achieving it because that comfort zone can be very limiting.

2 Kings 7:4 says, “It’s no use going into the city because we would starve to death in there; but if we stay here, we’ll die also. So, let’s go to the Syrian camp; the worst they can do is kill us, but maybe they will spare our lives.”

Due to the Syrian siege against Israelites, the terrible famine turned people to cannibalism to escape dying from hunger and yet gave the lepers’ a turning point of choice to make. Many times, we lightly say that we are hungry, but we aren’t. Their starvation drove the inhabitants of Samaria. The king, Jehoram, put all blame on the prophet of God -Elisha.

However, Elisha prophesied that every situation will turn around and that the economy will be revived; all scantiness will become abundant. From the middle of this account is a story about four leprous individuals. Our focus on this particular story is to show how the four lepers survived because of their choices. What is your choice in life? Proverbs 18:15 says, “An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.”

Prayer:
1. Oh Lord, help me to make the right choice daily as I live and breathe.
2. Proverbs 2:6: Lord, give me the wisdom to know when to walk away from evil desires in Jesus’ name. Amen
