Which Voice Will You Obey?

Which Voice Will You Obey?

“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.” 1 John 4:1

Our key text will be taken from John 7:1-7. The first verse of the scripture explains how Jesus did not feel like going to the temple and why he did not like it. Many believers ignore this kind of feeling or prompting, which in turn has great consequences. Whereas, these promptings or inner Voice is one of a medium through which our heavenly father communicates with us. Most times, we have this feeling of not doing something, even when it is a good thing.

There are times when the Holy Spirit will raise a suggestion in our hearts, but we often ignore the promptings. The feast of the tabernacle is one of the three reverence feasts in Jerusalem, but Jesus was prompted not to observe it. Although his brothers tried to persuade him to follow them to the temple, he outrightly ignored them. We should always depend on the promptings of the Holy Spirit because he is our legal adviser and counselor (see 1John 2:20).

At the Voice of the Holy Spirit, when the appointed time to do anything comes, He will bring the suggestion to your thoughts because He can bring to your thoughts, something that is yet to occur. Though the question is, “How can you be convicted that it is the Holy Spirit raising a suggestion in you? John 16:13-14 says, “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his authority, but whatever He hears, He will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take what is mine and declare it to you.”

However, before the conviction comes, you need to submit to the lordship of the Holy Spirit, by developing a personal fellowship with him every moment in the place of prayer and bible study. Through the word of God, you will develop the knowledge and understanding of knowing the truth. Then the Voice will become more evident to you. Romans 8:14 says, “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Prayer
1. Father, give me the ability to remain calm in your presence
2. From today, I made the desire to be conscious of the promptings of the Holy Spirit in Jesus’ name. Amen!
