Working and Waiting, Servants!

Working and Waiting, Servants!

“Blessed are those servants whom the master finds on the watch when he returns. Truly I tell you, he will dress himself to serve and will have them recline at the table, and he will come and wait on them.” Luke 12:35-37

Christ is our master, and we are his servants, not only working servants but waiting servants, we must be as men that wait for their lord, that sit up while he stays out late to be ready to receive him whenever he comes. Some might say the Bible called us sons of God, how come we are servants again?

Yes, that’s true. We are sons and daughters of God when we receive Jesus, and the spirit of God testifies to that (John 1:12, Romans 8:16).

Servant means a person following the footsteps of someone superior to him or her in knowledge, experience, and riches, and if we say we are looking up to Jesus as the author and finisher of our faith, then we are servants. The above scripture admonishes us like that as servants, we should not get carried away by the enticing things of this world but to put our faces on the coming back of our master. This is similar to the parable of the ten virgins, how they all slept, but five of them that are foolish did not keep their light burning while five of them that are wise kept their light burning (Mathew 25:1-13).

To gird your loins, you must take your fellowship with God earnestly in the place of prayer, fasting, in the word of God, in holiness, and a loving relationship with another. Always Remember to “Get dressed for service and keep your lamps burning.” Luke 12:35.

PRAYER:
1. Thank you, Jesus, for your faithfulness and your steadfast love toward me.
2. I pray that the grace to wait patiently shall be given to you in Jesus’ name.
