Yet Another Rest!

“So, there is a special rest still waiting for the people of God.” Hebrews 4:9

An older man sat in front of his house on a cool evening and saw a young man with heavy machine equipment on his head and another one he was carrying. The older man called him, asked him to rest, gave him good treatment, and engaged him in a conversation. He got to know the young man was in transit to a very far place with that heavy load.

The young man discussed his predicament with the older man of how he has lost all, and the only thing he could do to survive and start living again is this hard labor. Out of compassion, the older man offered to help move the machine equipment to the destination through his driver and told him there is yet another rest. This was the last longing, live transforming turnaround of the young man’s life.

Hebrews 4:10 says, “For whoever enters God’s rest also rests from their work, just as God did from His.”

Since the very fall of humanity and the exit out of the garden of Eden, life has become miserable, hard, difficult, and full of crisis for humanity. Humankind lives in this burdensome labor, though they survive ages in this journey without hope and rest. Alas, just like the older man sat in front of his house relaxed and full of rest, Jesus awaits everyone in the journey of life to grant us rest and offer help.

Have you encountered Jesus in the journey of life? He is on the road you take, and he only awaits you to come today, that he may grant you rest and help. Decide to come to Jesus today. Yet, there is another rest He has for you, only when you come to him first. Come to the Lord Jesus today and let him grant you help. Matthew 11:28 says, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavily laden, and I will give you rest.”

2. Lord Jesus, I come to you today, grant me rest from all unrest. Amen!
