Keep it in Your Heart!
“Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” Psalm 119:11
The word of God is a great treasure to every believer who finds it and abides in it. Everything we need to prosper and be successful in life is rooted in the word of God. There are counsels, directions, and help in it. From the text above, David sounded like someone who just found a precious substance; he earnestly kept it and never wanted to lose it.
The word of God has great value, and we should value it as much as we can because anyone who finds and keeps it in their heart is wise. So many people value the bible, but they do not appreciate the word of God. Such people could get themselves very neat bibles with attractive covers and ensure that they are not rough-handled.
They only value the covers and the papers, but the real content, which is the written word of God, doesn’t mean so much to them. Every of God’s word is a living word; his word brings life because they are Spirit. John 6:63 says, “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are Spirit, and they are life.”
Our earnest prayer and desire should be channeled towards keeping God’s word in our hearts. Just like we would keep our earthly treasures, the word of God should never leave our hearts as well. Meditate on it day and night so that you may have great success as it is written in the book of Joshua. Psalm 40:8 says, “I delight to do Your will, O my God; Your law is within my heart.”
Prayer:
Lord, help me to value your word as much as you value me.
