The Contender of Your Mind! 2
“For in my inner being, I delight in God’s law. But I see another law at work in my body, warring against the law of my mind and holding me captive to the law of sin that dwells within me.” Romans 7:22-23
It is hard for our realistic culture to understand that our mind contends between good and evil. We are constantly bombarded with information about what we should do to be happy, healthy, and fulfilled. This can cause us to lose sight of who is truly in charge of our lives. When we are not aware of who is controlling us, we become more susceptible to the temptations of life.
Though some people may have a strong desire in their mind to do things that advance good of others or promote harmony in their community, but they end up doing the thing that brings harm to themselves and others. Apostle Paul felt this type of issue in his mind says: “But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.” Have you ever felt like you are being controlled by a thought that is contrary to what God wants you to be? If so, that is what Apostle Paul felt in today’s verse.
The book of Ezekiel 11:5, 20:32, show that things sometimes naturally, encroach into our mind. Ezekiel 38:10 shows that the things that come into our hearth unconsciously influence our thoughts or actions: “This is what the Lord GOD says: On that day, thoughts will arise in your mind, and you will devise an evil plan.” So we have to make it a duty to ensure that we train and safeguard our minds from an unwanted intruder.
Each time we are at crossroads and not sure of the decision to take, we are to weigh the spirit that is whispering into our mind so that we don’t eventually yield to the dictates of the flesh. If you are not yet born again, you cannot yield yourself to the Spirit of God; your mind needs to be saved and regenerated by the Lord Jesus Christ. If you believe and confess Him as your Lord and Savior, your mind will be regenerated. Ask the Lord Jesus to come into your heart. Philippians 2:13 says, “For it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.”
Prayer points:
1. Father Lord, help me to yield myself to the Spirit of God always in the name of Jesus!
2. Psalm 27:13, “I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living!” Amen!
