A Godly Home!

“For I have chosen him so that he will direct his children and his household after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing what is right and just so that the LORD will bring about for Abraham what he has promised him.” Genesis 18:19

The family is an important domain and the first place of training for the children. Whatever the child’s future would look like is rooted in the teachings and training the parent gives the child. So the parents must be godly to make a godly home.

The word Christian means to lead to Christ. A Christian is someone ready to obey Christ. A Christian is a direct reflection of God. A Christian home should be a place where an altar is being raised for God. A Christian home must be a Godly home where God rules and not where the husband, wife, or children rules. In such homes, the will of God is the center of focus.

Colossians 3:17 says, “And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”

The making of the home is not in anyone’s hand, but God’s hand but God won’t come down from heaven to build our homes. We have to follow his lead and not just fold our hands and not do anything on our part. Each member of the family has a role to play for our home to be a Christian home. It all starts by making a good choice of a marriage partner. When you make life’s choice, don’t just make any choice; let it be God’s choice.

A Christian home is a home where each member of the home joyfully takes up his/her responsibilities without anybody telling them to do it. For our homes to become godly homes, the husband must submit to Christ, who is the overall head, the wife must submit herself to her husband, and the children must obey their parents. Every part must act their role according to the will of God. Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train up a child in the way they should go, And when they are old they will not depart from it.”

1. Father, we ask that you dwell with us. Let our home be filled with your presence.
2. We pray that you may give us strength and wisdom to raise a godly home in Jesus’ name. Amen!
