An Encounter with God! 3
“I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.” Psalm 32:8
An encounter with God leads to profound changes in intimacy with God and impacts the relationship. For the past few devotion sessions, we had seen the pattern in the life of Paul the Apostle when Jesus knocked him off from being an agent of evil and turned him to become a soul winner on his way to Damascus. Likewise, in the life of Moses, we see the pattern in his life when he was transformed from a shepherd to a deliverer when he encountered God.
Today, we will look at the fisherman, Simon, who also had an encounter with Jesus. After all night of toiling on the sea with his colleagues in tow of fishing business they mastered in their craft, they could catch nothing in the end. But then, as soon as he saw Jesus, everything changed from nothing to something more than just a fish caught when he obeyed Him.
Luke 5:5 says, “Simon said to Him, “Teacher, we have worked all night, and we have caught nothing. But because You told me to, I will let the net down.”
Even after the stress and pains, he went through before to catch some fishes, Simon did not disobey or neglect the instruction of Jesus. As a result of his obedience, not only did he catch a multitude of fishes, he had a change of carrier to a fisher of men. God appointed him on the spot, and He became the first leader of the early Church.
God has not stopped giving a divine appointment. Yours is on its way, and it will cause a mighty turnaround for you and take you to the next level in Jesus’ name. Amen. But you must obey when you have the encounter. The pattern of the encounter is not only to experience God but also transformed from one who is lost to another who has found himself or herself in Christ Jesus’. Amen! Jeremiah 7:23 says, “But this command I gave them: ‘Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be my people. And walk in all the way that I command you, that it may be well with you.”
Prayer:
1. Holy Spirit, give me the heart that follows and performs God’s will in every situation.
2. Psalm 119:31; You shall not be put to shame as cling to the testimony of God’s Word in Jesus’ name.
