Ask: It’s the Father’s Delight to Hear You!
“Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.”1 John 5:14
It’s the Father’s delight to hear your voice, but you seem less concerned about what He knows and more worried about what you know. And So, I ask you this: What do you know about God? Most times, a believer allows his experience or that of others to determine his view about God. But this ought not to be so. We should always seek to understand God’s heart and his purpose for our lives.
Nobody knows you better than yourself; likewise, no one knows God better than Himself. That is the reason why Jesus severally made statements such as this ‘no man knows the Son, but the Father; neither knows any man the Father, except the Son (Matthew 11.27)’, ‘for flesh and blood has not revealed it unto you, but my Father who is in heaven (Matthew 16.17).
In John 14.9, Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
Christ’s disciple also affirms the same fact ‘No man has seen God at any time; the only-begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he has declared him (John 1.18)’. This tells me that the revelation or insight into who God is exclusive to Christ Jesus. Only Jesus (the Son) reveals the Father, and only the Father reveals the Son, and to whomsoever, the Son will reveal the Father.
Now, by faith in the gospel, the truth of the Father has been made known unto us. The Holy Spirit has been given to us, and we have been reconciled to God, have right standing with the Father, Jesus is our advocate with Him, and we can never be condemned again. This is the fact of our redemption; answer, confidence is built upon this solid rock. 1 John 5:15 says, “And if we know that he hears us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we desired of him.”
Prayer:
• Father, I know you always hear me. As I pray today and always, I hold on to this confidence, and I receive and have all that I ask in Jesus’ name.
