“Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.” 2 Corinthians 9:10

In 2 Corinthians 9:10, we are reminded that you generously provide both bread for sustenance and seed for sowing. Through Luke 22:19, Jesus instructed his disciples to remember him through the breaking of bread. Lord, as we partake in this sacred act during Holy Communion, may our understanding deepen and our devotion to you become more steadfast. Allow us to encounter your presence in a profoundly tangible way. Furthermore, just as you teach us to pray for our daily bread in the Lord’s Prayer, give us this day not only physical nourishment but also spiritual sustenance. May every morsel of your Word that enters our hearts bring forth abundant fruit in our lives.

Isaiah 55:10 says, “For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater.”

Oh Lord, fill us with hunger, so we continuously seek after you and treasure every revelation found within your holy scriptures. My God, like an indulgent feast, may we taste and see your goodness unfold before us as we engage with your inspired word. Nourish our spirits with stories of faith, hope, love, and redemption from Genesis to Revelation. May these accounts shape us into more compassionate and faithful servants who reflect your divine character.

In this prayerful reflection upon bread in the Bible, we ask that you increase our appetite for life with you, oh Lord. Cultivate within us a desire to know you more intimately; grant us a voracious craving to experience your overflowing grace each day.
