Delay is Dangerous! 7
William Blake said, “It is easier to forgive an enemy than to forgive a friend.” Why? Because most people don’t expect their friends, relatives, or neighbors to betrayed them in any way. However, when they do betray, people find it difficult to forgive.
“You must not harbor hatred against your brother in your heart. Directly rebuke your neighbor, so that you will not incur guilt on account of him.” Leviticus 19:17.
Peter once asked Jesus, saying, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother who sins against me? Up to seven times?” Jesus replied, “No, not seven times, but seventy times seven! Matthew 18:21-22. Means, your friends, brother, sister, spouse, neighbor, and yourself are prone to mistakes and tend to sin.
Proverbs 25:9 says, “Argue your case with your neighbor without betraying another’s confidence.
Couples that celebrated 50s years of marriage, friends that celebrated long term relationship milestones, neighbor to neighbor relationships that celebrated their achievement in building better and safe community, forgive each other, but will never tell you how they wrong each other amid their relationship. What about you, are you ready to forgive and celebrate?
“Above all, love one another deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.” 1 Peter 4:8
Therefore, if you want to enjoy your relationship, learn how to forgive quickly and love more, because love covers a vast range of sins. Forgiveness is not an easy thing to do, but it doesn’t mean you should hurt yourself in the process holding up to anger and resentment. Psalm 37:8 says, “Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; Do not fret—it only causes harm.”
Prayer:
1. Thank you, Holy Spirit, in Jesus Christ for saving me from my sin.
2. Pray for those who hurt you and forgive them for their sins.
3. Blood of Jesus, arise in Your power and Purify my heart.
