Discerning the Moments!
“My soul thirsted for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?” Psalm 42:2
Christianity is not a journey of the flesh, nor is it a race meant for the weak in the spirit. It is intended for those willing and ready to yield to the lead of the Holy Spirit. The sense of knowing and perception is one of the signs that we are Christians. This will prevent us from falling into danger and unnecessary mistakes.
In Matthew 16:16-17, Jesus was asking his disciples whom the people assumed him to be. Only Peter could provide the answers, and he commended him for the knowingness and discernment, saying, “Blessed are you, Simon, son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father, who is in heaven.”
John 1:14 says, “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.”
However, in verse 22 and 23 of the same chapter, Jesus perceived that it was not Peter speaking anymore, and He rebuked him, saying, “get thee behind me, Satan.” This shows how much we need to know God’s Word and walk in the Spirit of the living God to living a life of righteousness. We can question ourselves how Jesus was able to discern familiar and unfamiliar spirits speaking through Peter accurately? But it’s another thing to know that Jesus is the word in the world for our knowing.
The life found only in Jesus is a life to live beyond the realm governed by the flesh. When you are walking with Christ in truth, you will be surrounded by things governed by the glory of a reality in the unapproachable light of God and keep you informed. Therefore, brethren, let us sharpened our spiritual sense in the word of God so that we can discern moments of truth and yield to the promptings and dealings of the Holy Spirit. Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
Prayer
1. Father let my spiritual senses be re-activated to know what to do and what to say each time.
2. Every trap or wolf in sheep’s clothing agenda planned for you and your family shall be revealed in Jesus’ name. Amen
