Discipline is Required.
“For the moment, all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.” Hebrews 12:11
Discipline gives you the stability you need to be successful. It allows you to do what’s right and not let anyone else dictate the course of your life. Discipline is the key to success in any field, but if you’re not disciplined, you’ll never get anywhere. Discipline isn’t something that comes naturally or automatically; it requires practice and dedication.
Discipline is a skill that requires time, effort, patience, and hard work.
Mike Ditka said, “success isn’t measured by money or power or social rank. Success is measured by your discipline and inner peace.” Means discipline is the drive that takes you from where you are to where you want to be. That place is called Peaceable State of Mind and Self- Respect.
One of the core principles of devotion time is discipline. I will use my personal experience as an illustration. When I started my Christian spiritual race, I made a lot of decisions toward being devoted to whatever pertains to God, but I discovered I was never able to do them perfectly at first. I would plan a means of reading the word of God at all time, try to pray whenever it comes to my mind and try to be so sensitive to things that bring me to God’s presence.
However, overtimes, I failed to be consistent with all of that, and anytime I return to do them, I feel like am just starting all over. There was no growth, was living a baby-life for years. I would make my confessions again and again, but then, I realized being in God’s presence isn’t an act you do with mere words; it is more about actions and strong discipline.
“Christian race, as it takes from him every motive for running, and gives power to every discouragement. When weary and faint in their minds, let them recollect that the holy Jesus suffered, to save them from eternal misery. By steadfastly looking to Jesus, their thoughts would strengthen holy affections, and keep under their carnal desires.” Matthew Henry.
The world is so filled with issues and beauties that could be quickly swift one away, but it takes a deliberate heart to keep going on Christ’s part. Be prayerful, feed on the word of God, witness for Christ with your life, and ensure that you stay in His presses at every moment. However, if all of these are not done continuously, no physical training and growth would be felt. So, a so-called Christian must submit to discipline in all dealings.
However, if you are consistent in doing the things that bring you closer to God, they quickly become part of you and doing what is against that would be very difficult for you. I pray, nothing will be difficult for you to achieve in Jesus name. Press in for such realm! Exodus 23:25 says “You shall serve the LORD your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take away sickness from among you.” Amen.
Prayer:
1. Father, I thank you for all you’ve done for me, be exalted.
2. In the mighty name of Jesus, I receive the grace to heed to your calls and be discipline to your ways, Lord.
3. Holy Spirit, give me the spirit to care, to be focused and be disciplined on everything of value and purpose in Jesus name. Amen.
