Discover Your True Purpose!
“Thus says the Lord who made you, who formed you from the womb and will help you: Fear not, O Jacob my servant, Jeshurun whom I have chosen.” Isaiah 44:2
How many times have you been told that your life has meaning, and yet you feel lost and have no idea what it is? It is very common to experience this when you are trying to find out what your purpose is. Especially when there are many opinions on purpose and telling you what to do and how to do it, nothing seems to be happening as expected in life. I am not saying that you shouldn’t try to figure out your purpose, but there is someone greater I want you to consider that knows your purpose if you allow him today to guide you. The more we know our purpose, the more we can use it to help us
We are all born with a profound purpose in life. However, the question is, where and how can we find that purpose? In today’s devotion, I will share my experience of finding your purpose. There is a conventional way we have always been talking about this. I’ve read many books and seen people talk about purpose. They were all educated and influential. They talked about what it means to live a purpose-driven life but did not mention where I can find it. All I got was to be disciplined, visionary, diligent, obtain values, etc. So at some point, I saw: discover yourself. Oh! Oh! … I felt like, what have I been doing? And we know God can not leave us in the dark as such a book did.
In Jeremiah 29:11, God says, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
The fact is that I lost the purpose of that book; I had a misconception of what the book was all about. Books are like help or guide us in some specific area. No manual can ever tell you your purpose in life but can help you to sharpen your knowledge. However, God can clearly state our purpose, not human like you, nor theory can tell you your exact purpose in life. Ephesians 1:11-12 says, “In Him we were also chosen as God’s own, having been predestined according to the plan of Him who works out everything by the counsel of His will, in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, would be for the praise of His glory.”
It is, therefore, essential to ask God about this. Remember that He created you, and only the creator can fully understand the creature’s purpose. Never neglect the voice of God in discovering your purpose. As much as you would read other books, read His word, which is where your purpose can be known and have full expression. “The counsel of the LORD stands forever, the purposes of His heart to all generations.” Psalm 33:11
Prayer:
- Thank you, Lord, for the guidance and direction of my life.
- Lord, show me why you’ve created me. I submit myself to your will.
- Every plan of the enemy contrary to the plan of God in my life shall be destroyed in Jesus name
