Dry Roots Can Live Again!
“I will heal their waywardness and love them freely, for my anger has turned away from them. I will be like the dew to Israel; he will blossom like a lily. Like a cedar of Lebanon, he will send down his roots.” Hosea 14:4-6
Imagine a garden, once vibrant, now faded under the weight of time. Yet, beneath the surface, hope still lingers in the soil, waiting for the right moment to bloom again. Just like that garden, our spirits may sometimes feel parched and weary, but remember: “Dry roots can live again.” When the rain of God’s love pours upon us, new life can spring forth, revitalizing our passion and joy.
In Ezekiel 37, we witness an extraordinary vision of dry bones coming back to life. God commanded the prophet to prophesy to these bones, and with that divine word, they were transformed into a great army. This story beautifully illustrates how God can breathe new life into what seems lifeless. Just as the rain revives a brown lawn overnight, so too can God rejuvenate our hearts, restoring our spirit to vibrant health.
Ezekiel 37:4-6 says, Then he said to me, “Prophesy over these bones, and say to them, O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord. Thus says the Lord God to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live. And I will lay sinews upon you, and will cause flesh to come upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you shall live, and you shall know that I am the Lord.”
Reflect on the words of Hosea 14:4-7, where God promises to heal our waywardness and make us flourish like a lily. This beautiful imagery reminds us that even in a state of dryness, we are never beyond God’s reach. He can rain on desert hearts, igniting a fresh desire for Him and His purpose for our lives.
Brethren, let your cries for revival echo in God’s presence; in calling on His name, you will find the strength to rise again. Remember, our call to God for revival is an act of faith, a recognition that He alone holds the power to renew us. May our spirits awaken to fresh hunger, pushing aside any feelings of indifference or complacency. Psalm 80:18-19 says, “We shall not turn back from you; give us life, and we will call upon your name. Restore us, O Lord God of hosts! Let your face shine, that we may be saved!” Amen.
