Find Contentment!

“And it is a good thing to receive wealth from God and the good health to enjoy it. To enjoy your work and accept your lot in life—this is indeed a gift from God.” Ecclesiastes 5:19

Childhood has to be the best part of human life because it is worry-free. The only thing we worry about is eating, doing school assignments, and friends to play with. Adulthood comes with so much stress and worries that we most times forget to be happy. The first thing to note about life is, it is the gift of God. Why do we then worry about life when it is from God? We worry about the future and how to get money, have a great family, and have great kids.

We have new goals that we look forward to at every point in life, the promotion we are chasing, degrees to acquire, another skill to get, and eventually not achieving these might lead to depression. Suicide cases are now on the rise because there are so many things we need to achieve and so many unreal standards that we have set for ourselves.

Colossians 3:2 says, “Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.”

We should note that “the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord” Psalm 37:23. Because God has ordered our steps, we need to be contented with our jobs. Finding happiness in what we are doing will make us find purpose in our daily lives. So prepare your mind for what God has in plans for you, and do not worry about what tomorrow will bring.

You are a representative of God on earth, and you are carrying his name, so you should not be worrying about the future because you are with the God of the future. Be faithful and be seeking to know God’s plan for you always. That’s the true way to contentment and happiness. Matthew 6:34 says, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

1. Oh Lord, help me to know your heart and be contented in you.
2. I pray that you give me peace of mind and confidence in my faith in Jesus’ name.
