Focus on your goals! 3
“Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you.” Proverbs 4:25
The divergent system many live on is one of our greatest weaknesses and pitfalls in life. Being in a constant state of distraction can lead us astray. But being consistently focused on what we want to accomplish can help us achieve more than anything else. That’s why our dreams and goals require a daily consistent best effort of good intention and diligence to achieve them.
Consistency is like pouring a cup of water into a bucket each day. You keep pouring every day till it is full. If you stop halfway because the bucket is not getting full on time, to start another thing, you will still have to start all over from the beginning, and the uncompleted task at hand cannot be pointed to as an achieved goal. But to call it accomplished, you have to keep pouring the cup of water every day till the bucket is full.
Philippians 3:12 says, “Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.”
Apostle Paul keeps reminding himself and others that he can only be satisfied with finished work and the prize that comes with accomplishing his work. So likewise, we need to constantly remind ourselves that whatever goal we are working towards in life does not deserve to be abandon and forgotten because God lays it in our hearts for a purpose greater than just to get by. Therefore, every task needs consistency and commitment from us.
Remember, if God does not create the ability to finish the task in you, he will not give you the ability to start that task. So, think about your abandoned goals for a moment and ask yourself: What went wrong? When you started, you were so excited and consistently generating new ideas to accomplish the task, but now you have lost interest in it. This is where God’s Word comes into play in Philippians 1:6, saying, “Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
Prayer:
1. The spirit to persevere and focus on my goals, give it to me, Lord.
2. 1 Thessalonians 5:23; “Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely, and may your entire spirit, soul, and body is kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Amen.
