“No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead.” Philippians 3:13
The world is so filled with all manner of eventualities. The devil has deceived so many into all kinds of sinful and regrettable act. And afterward, some will repent and follow Christ with all their heart (Glory is to God), all things then become new, the old ways are gone irrespective of the damages. But some couldn’t accept this truth, they are tired of their past and are so confused, they eventually commit suicide or get involved in more dangerous ways because they are still being filled with their unrighteous past.
This is simply the plot of the devil; he desires that men should live on their errors, mistakes and sinful past to a great extent that their hearts are filled with feelings and thoughts of guilt to create a pattern of rejection and fear for the future. Do you know that the men God used significantly that we read in the scriptures too have their past? Moses was a murder. Apostle Paul was a major antagonist of God, and yet he did not allow His past to affect what God says about him.
God knew you, He is aware of your past, and He doesn’t use it as a criterion to judge your future. He will never change His mind on giving you better hope and future (Jeremiah 29:11). So, why think your mistake is your life? Never dwell on your past. Accept Christ with full consciousness and erase the past from your thought. Remember, in Luke 9:62, Jesus said: “unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”
Prayer:
1. Thank you, Lord for keeping and giving me the privilege to be among the living today
2. Lord, I receive strength to dwell in your word and not my past.
