Forsake Sin!
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23
All glory belongs to God for His love, mercy, kindness, faithfulness, and grace. He gave us His only son to deliver us from the power and influence of sin. What a great sacrifice to give Jesus for our sins? If Jesus could endure the cross and die for me, then I don’t have an excuse to live like a sinner.
Jesus’ endurance and suffering have given us hope and life. The word of God has proved an absolute truth to us that we can live a sin-free life. It only requires that we agree to live like Christ, having the nature and mind of Christ (Phil 2:5) and allowing the Holy Spirit to lead us (Rom 8:14). It is pertinent to remember that it was sin that broke the relationship between God and man (Adam) from the beginning.
1 Peter 5:8 says, “Be sober-minded and alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”
Sin made humanity lost God’s glory; it made Saul to be rejected, sin led to the destruction of the two cities, Sodom and Gomorrah. Cain fell into sin, and he became a fugitive. Judas’ life and hope were taken because of sin. So many lives around us on earth has been destroyed and lost shape because of sin. And then, will you ever still give a chance to sin to take over your life and destiny?
Sin is always pleasing to the flesh, you don’t need much strength to fall into it, but you need full consciousness and power to stop yourself from it. Accepting Christ and being baptized with the Holy Ghost is not just sufficient for a believer to forsake sin, endeavor to live in the consciousness that you are the righteousness of God and your body belongs to God. Anytime you are about to make a decision, ask yourself, “if Christ is in me, will I do this? “Let His mind be in you today. James 4:7 says, “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
Prayer:
1. Lord, help me to forsake sin. Give me the strength to resist the devil at all times.
2. Hebrews 8:12- Oh Lord, show me mercy for my sins and grant me the courage to forgive those who have sinned against me in Jesus’ name.
