God’s Word is useful!

All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. 2 Timothy 3:16

The Word of God is inspired by God and written by men of God. The power and the usefulness in the Word do not lie in the writers’ comments but the written Word of God. In the beginning, God spoke, and everything came alive. He said, “let there be light,” and light came. He created the animals and everything on the earth with His words. That is how powerful the Word of God is.

The Word of God is like a seed that has been planted into every human that is reading it and meditating on it. It is waiting to germinate into full-blown potential. You deposit the Word every time you study the Bible, and with time and consistency, great things will begin to happen in your life. The psalmist said blessed is the one that meditates on the law of the Lord day and night.

Colossians 3:16 says, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.”

The Word is useful for doctrine: it gives you a belief system to hold on to, and the Word of God strengthens your faith. It guides your life and helps you to know what to do per time. It is useful for reproof: the Word of God is a form of criticism for your life. It censors your life. It is useful for correction: it helps you improve your life, correct you from a mistake, and substitute for the error you have made.

There are examples in the Bible that will show you where you are wrong and the necessary steps to make corrections. The same Word is also good for instructions: there are day-to-day guidelines for proper Christian living to make life easier. It is there to provide wisdom for every aspect of one’s life. Therefore, don’t take it for granted. In Luke 11:28, Jesus said, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!”
