GROWING IN CHRIST.
“Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church.” Ephesians 4:15.
God expectation is that we grow up to be like Christ. He expects us to become a mature person and live a life of faith. However, over time, you will see people behave beyond the level I ever expected. Imagine a young man who is in his late 20s, there is a particular attitude or a way you would expect him to behave and react to situations, but you would be disappointed when you see such fellow act like a teen.
I know when you remember things you have done before knowing Christ, you feel so sad and wished certain things could be reversed. However, you cannot overemphasize how the spirit of God has brought excellent knowledge and ways of doing things in their best way to your consciousness and having a sound result afterward. It is indeed fabulous to grow in God’s knowledge.
Growth is a transformation of character, and a long life journey that begins with a change in your mindset. It starts from within you and then moves outward through the life experiences. John C. Maxwell said, “Growth is the great separator between those who succeed and those who do not. When I see a person beginning to separate themselves from the pack, it’s almost always due to personal growth.”
If you possess the qualities of growth and increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 1:8
2 Peter 3:18 has commanded us to “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Means there is no other standard that you can set for yourself to become rather than looking at Christ who is our head. It is not sufficient for a man to have the salvation experience and be satisfied; you need to press in for more. That is God’s desire for us. He needs us to grow up.
So that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, and being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. Colossians 1:10-12.
