He Respects Yet Resists!
“Though the Lord be high, yet hath he respects unto the lowly but the proud He resisted afar off.” Psalm 138:6
Everyone is required to run their race with wisdom and understanding. We must have an understanding of what can qualify or disqualify us from finishing the race. Notably, the knowledge of God, who He is, and whom He represents in our life. Knowing more is essential to our walk with Him and our Christian race.
It is surprising to know that the dimension of the Lord captures the topic for today’s devotion. He respects yet resists. The Lord regards the lowly and humble, however, opposes the proud and high at heart. He even resists the proud afar off. This is one of the rules of our walk with God that if we lack understanding or are not willing to listen, then we will be led astray. Understand the rules of walking with God.
“God mocks the mockers but gives grace to the humble.” Proverbs 3:34. David testifies that He remembers the lowly in their low estate. However, before destruction comes, there is a haughty heart. And we cannot continue to live in our arrogant way, then ask for the grace of God to increase in us. David’s obedience to God is what makes him the “apple of God’s eye.”
God desires to uplift you, but you have to play to the rule of His modesty. Humility and lowliness of heart is the key to God’s respect and upliftment. Learn of Jesus for He is meek and of a humble heart. “God gives greater grace. The scripture says: God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” James 4:6
Prayer:
• Thank you, Jesus, for your mercy and forgiveness.
• Lord, I desire a humble heart. Teach me to be meek and lowly at heart.
