Humility is a Garment!

“Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time.” 1 Peter 5:6

What else beautify humankind than the garment of humility? It gives lifting power to the souls and makes it easier to live in the light of God’s glory. When we are humble, our hearts become more open to accepting other people’s opinions and ideas. However, when we embrace the opposite of humility, which is pride, we quickly judge and bring people down.

Humility is not a generally existing human character; it is always seen in the life of few people who are in God’s presence and have grown into maturity in Christ. Humility is part of God’s nature, so whoever will stand in His presence must be humble. God can’t associate Himself with a proud heart.

Proverbs 18:12 says, “Pride leads to destruction; humility leads to honor.”

Pride doesn’t have any good to offer; it disgraces and abases a man. It was pride that made Satan lost his precious and glorious position; he became a threat to the earth. Nebuchadnezzar took credit for what only God can do; he said, “Is not this great Babylon that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power and the honor of my majesty? The Bible tells us that the kingdom was taken away from him (Daniel 4:30-31).

For everyone who desires to be exalted and be lifted, God is saying that humility is a vital criterion. Make every decision of life with God, He is wiser than you, and He has the greatest and the best plan. A man can think he is not proud, but yet he might not be humble. Recognize the mighty hand of God, stand under it, look up to Him, and then He will lift you. James 4:10 says, “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will exalt you.”
