I am Thankful! 2

“I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise will always be on my lips.” Psalm 34:1

Living in gratitude is a choice that can make all the difference in life. I remember a story of Mr. A, who has a mini bad day, saw another neighbor playing music in his backyard and complimented God’s goodness, especially the fresh air he had been blessed with, which was a blessing indeed. Mr. A finds it difficult to see why a person should be grateful for just ordinary weather, fresh air, and the beauty of nature that he has received.

Not until Mr. A found himself in a situation where he couldn’t breathe properly and landed in the hospital bed in ER. He was diagnosed with Histotoxic hypoxia, a condition where the body cell does not recognize or use oxygen from the bloodstream. The doctor explained that he has enough oxygen in his bloodstream, but body cells or tissues do not recognize it as oxygen or a source of power. He was later treated in the ER with special oxygen therapy for few hours and was later discharged with a bill of $7,500.00 for the treatment.

Ephesians 5:20 says, “Giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Despite the fact that oxygen was delivered to his bloodstream, his body cell can’t recognize it as a power source. Likewise, many of us do not recognize God’s presence despite every blessing He provides to us. We took His grace for granted and did not realize how much he is there for us. We took His love given to us through Christ in vain because our selfishness so blinded us.

We are still here today, which means we have hope and have a lot more to do in life. Therefore, let’s take time out of our busy schedule and recognize God’s grace, mercy, love, power, and blessing in every aspect of our lives. Mr. A learned from the experience and never take things for granted. Psalm 118:24 says, “This is the day the LORD has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.”
