Jesus is my Shepherd!

Jesus is My Shepherd!

“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.” John 10:11.

Jesus Christ, my Savior, is the good shepherd. That is why the problem of everyone who believed in him become His problem. He is a father of the fatherless and the defender of the widow; through Him, we find rest and liberty. He is Love, and one of the so many ways God relates to humans is by being their shepherd. A shepherd’s role of God puts Him in the position of the leader, guide, and protector of the sheep.

The shepherd is saddled with the safety and acting as the guide of the sheep to where the pasture can be found. When we come to God, we need to know that God knows more than us; no matter how knowledgeable we are, we cannot fathom in fullness the extent of the knowledge of God and hence. We need to trust Him as the sheep trust in the shepherd to lead them right away from wolves and thieves, and further lead them into the green pasture and the clean waters.

In John, 10:17 Jesus said, “The reason the Father loves Me is that I lay down My life to take it up again.”

The shepherd will do anything to secure His sheep from the evil ones because only the careless shepherd gives his sheep’s food to the wolves. Jesus is the shepherd and not just any shepherd; He is a good shepherd who never abandons the sheep for anything. Another striking detail about the shepherd’s relationship is that we get to know His voice, and that voice serves as the guide as to when to come in, go out, where to go, and the path to follow.

As the good shepherd, when we miss the road, He comes looking and won’t leave us until we are found once more with Him. Rest assured in this God, the good shepherd, and face the day with confidence because through Him, you shall lack nothing. In Psalm 23, David was so assured that “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.”

Prayer

  1. Lord, thank you for being my good shepherd and Lord.
  2. Today, I will align with your instructions, and the word for it brings me safety and profits.
  3. I scatter the plan of every wolf, planning to turn my liberation in Christ into suppression in Jesus’ name.
