Living to Understand the Gospel!
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen” Matthew 28:19-20
The gospel is rediscovered when we move it forward and explain it to others through the dynamic power of the Holy Ghost. I remember the story of a young man I knew when I enter into a boutique to get some stuff some years back. While checking a particular cloth I love, the young man was around the scene to give a helpful comment about the fabric and to tell me how nice it would look on me.
Some weeks later, after I left the store, I saw this same person on the street, so I decided to stop by to meet him formally, exchanged contact. I was having a chat with him through messenger at a particular time, and I was moved to discuss the gospel with him. While charting, I discovered that He had been going to church for over 10 years, but he doesn’t understand his place in Christ.
He claims to be born again but still indulges himself in sins. That broke me because it was apparent he had access to the truth but never wanted to take the truth. The testimony of Jesus, which is the gospel we share, is not a mere discussion for us; we must fully come into its reality and adhere to its principles.
One of the core things we must first do is to understand the gospel through the word of God and the help of the Holy Spirit. We were not called to attend church services or hold a particular post in the church. We are not just to answer the title ‘Christians’ alone; the gospel is beyond that; we must repent and accept Jesus. We must live as Christ lived and according to His will per time. This is the gospel. Acts 16:31 says, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
Prayer:
- Lord, as I’ve received your saving grace, help me to continue in You.
- Holy Spirit, please help me to keep my faith and trust in you, Jesus, Amen!
