Mercy Embrace the Whole, Be Merciful! 4.
The Lord Jesus Christ has shown us how to be kind and compassionate toward others. He has taught us how to love unconditionally and without fear. He has shown us how to forgive and forget, even when people do not deserve it. To his prosecutors while on the cross, Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” Luke 23:34b.
Thomas Watson said, “God is more willing to pardon than to punish. Mercy does more multiply in Him than sin in us. Mercy is his nature.” That means God is more committed to forgiving than to punish. He is more willing to love than to hate or kill because a saved soul has a higher purpose than death.
Lamentations 3:22-24 says, “It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed because his compassion fails not. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, “The LORD is my portion; therefore, I will wait for him.”
The Lord is faithful and kind to everyone that shows mercy to others. He is faithful to all who do good deeds to benefit their community or country. Mercy is what the blood of Jesus brought to you on the cross for your sins, so that you may be saved. When you give mercy to someone else, you are giving them a gift of life in Christ. Therefore, be merciful! The gift of life is eternal, everlasting, and unchanging.
John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
